A Woman Lies Dead for 3 Years and No One Notices

A new film is being made about a woman who died at the age of 38 without anyone noticing.   Joyce Vincent died in her home in 2003 and until 2006, her body laid on next to the Christmas tree, and no one knew any better.

The documentary, “Dreams of  a Life,” by Carol Morley, sets out to use the experience of Joyce as an opportunity to explore how our lives are defined by our relationships to other people.   Morley asks viewers difficult questions, like “If you were to die, how long would it take someone to find you?”

Maybe all of us can learn from the Morley film and take a moment to reflect on whether the big job, fancy house and other things that seem to matter.   Some of us may be more alone than we think.
