DC Council Candidate Arrested for Soliciting a Prostitute

Kevin B. Chavous,who is running for the Ward 7 DC Council Seat, was arrested Friday morning after being accused of soliciting a prostitute.  Chavous is a Democrat and his arrest has been confirmed by his campaign manager. Lamont Harrell, the manager for the Chavous campaign, says that the arrest was part of a sting operation.

“Kevin was clearly targeted and was not soliciting in any way,” Harrell said.

Harrell says that Chavous is going to hire an attorney and fight the charges.  A spokesman for the DC police says that the incident took place around midnight.   Chavous is being charged with solicitation for lewd and immoral purposes, according to Officer Tisha Gant.

Chavous is a 27 -year old son of a former Ward 7 councilman Kevin P. Chavous.
