Nine people were arrested at the Mall of America on Monday. On the day after Christmas, fights were breaking out after rumors of an appearance by the rappers Drake and Lil Wayne caused absolute mayhem. Mall of America Officials confirmed that at 4:20 pm, 50 juveniles caused a disturbance at the mall in the north food court.
Police did not comment on the rumors about the rappers, but there were over 200 youth involved in the fighting. A YouTube video was posted showing the fights and the craziness that ensued before police intervened.
Mall security inadvertently called for a lockdown of the facility, which was reversed just a few minutes later.

This incident was exaggerated to the 99th degree. The Mall of America here in Minneapolis has never liked having Black American youth in its malls or food courts. While no “rappers” were in sight, this is a sad commentary on what these youth look up to. I’m sure if Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or Julian Bond came to the mall, the children wouldn’t even know who they are…again, very sad.
Facts about Minnesota:
#1 Worse Achievement Gap in the USA
#1 Widest disparity between Whites and Blacks as it pertains to employment.
#1 The Minnesota Department of Transportation receives $68 million in federal funds between 10/10 and 11/5 – only $715.00 (seen-hundred and fifteen dollars goes one Black construction firm.
…and you thought this kind of stuff only happens in the South?
