Girl’s Basketball Team Suspended After Chanting the N-Word Before Games

A girl’s basketball team in Buffalo has been suspended for chanting the n-word before every basketball game.  Tyra Batts, the only black person on the team, spoke up against the tradition and said that she was shut down by the rest of her teammates.

According to Batts, the girls would make a circle, say a prayer and then say, “One, two, three, n****r!”

I am with Makar, go on with your bad selves. Just know, when you say that in front the “right” ones, it may be your last. On the real side, my question is if they are saying this before games, there has to be someone from the Administration in attendance, whether Faculty, Administrator, so someone, or some people need to be fired…..To Iesha, Freedom of Speech is limited, in that you cannot for instance yell Fire in a crowded Theatre if there is not one, as you could cause harm to others. Yelling n****r in a Gymnasium full of people is kind of the same principal, and as I said before, in the right situation not only they could get hurt. In this day and age a lot of Guns are out there and God forbid if some fool decides to pop a couple of caps off.

lol and people say racism is dead.they also say that issues like this, mean little to nothing and people shouldn’t “blow it out of the water”.so chanting “n****r” before a game and saying it means nothing, shouldn’t be taken seriously?? this whole freedom of speech,is getting out of control.this NEEDS to be handle.and quickly.

The most interesting thing about it is that they first say a prayer!! I would think the person you were praying to would probably let you know that this conduct was possibly offensive to people on your team or in the stands!!

Let them say that at the wrong away game and there is going to be a serious misunderstanding in the that place!! Understand that you can do or say whatever you want but people will soon get the point with a fist in the mouth!

The NAACP claimed to have buried the “N Word” in 2007, a move which cost me thousands of dollars in lost book sales. It appears that our old friend won’t remain unlive!

The more things change the more they remain the same. We cannot isolate racism to when people were born as in the time back in the earlier 20th century when racism was more overt. The fact that young white like those high schoolers can chant racial slurs without provocation makes this a scary proposition. These are the future leaders in this country by their actions are prime candidates to lead groups like the tea party. This should be downright frightening.
