Four additional FAMU students have been arrested and charged with hazing other members of the school’s marching band.
Hakeem Birch, Denise Bailey, Anthony Mingo and Brandon Benson were each arrested on misdemeanor charges of hazing and booked into the Leon County jail.
Both Birch and Mingo were among the band members who were suspended back in November when FAMU launched its investigation into hazing at the school. This time, the students were arrested for the hazing of four freshmen who were pledging under the band’s subgroup known as the “Clones”.
According to the warrant, the defendants ”punched, prepped (slapped with both hands on back) and paddled” the freshmen. They also forced the inductees to give them money. This abuse reportedly occurred just days before Robert Champion died from being hazed.
