Yvette Carnell: President Obama Says He’s Kept His Promises, I Disagree

During his trek through Iowa, Republican candidate Mitt Romney repeatedly needled President Obama for failing to keep his campaignPresident Obama promises. Now, the Obama campaign has responded with a video outlining the promises candidate Obama made and the ones President Obama kept.

On the issue of promises kept, Obama is both right and wrong. He’s kept his promises to some while simultaneously betraying his commitment to others.

At the behest of gay rights activists, Obama repealed DADT. And at the encouragement of public opinion, President Obama is reducing our footprint in Iraq, even though some of our U.S. troops are being replaced by paid mercenaries.

The key question, though, isn’t whether President Obama has worked to keep his promises, but whether he’s been effective. Yes, President Obama worked to overhaul health care, but he wasted an entire year and the bulk of his political capital on a tepid health care bill. And in recent months, the Obama administration has been repealing parts of the very same health care law it passed. For example, the long term health insurance plan was dropped from the health care law back in October.

In his Iowa win speech, candidate Obama said, “I’ll be a President who finally makes health care affordable and available to every single American”.  We’ll see. But thus far, it doesn’t appear as if Obamacare is the law to make that happen. It may be a bill that another, much bolder, Democratic President can use as a stepping stone to make health care affordable, but it’s certainly not the end game.

And Obama did give middle class and working people a tax cut, but he gave even more in the way of bailouts to special interest groups and bankers. So, there’s also the question of proportionality.  It’s not just a question of whether Obama worked to fulfill some of his promises, but whether or not he was effective and whether or not he made the people who voted for him a priority over the corporations and lobbyists. Judged by that criterion, I believe President Obama’s first term has been an epic fail

Yvette Carnell, Girl, you are all mouth and full of dung! Did you ever make up your mind about voting for Ron Paul? Every time you open your mouth, to come down on President Obama, you sound like a Tea Party hater. President Obama took a brook country over, the GOP inside of Congress and outside of Congress refused to work with him to get anything done for the American People because of his color. A whole beget of a party, Tea Party, was started for the reason of getting rid and to pump hate against the nation first [Black president] because of his color.

Now here you come talking about the President didn’t keep his promise. Most of the good things taking place in America are happening because Obama is making them happen without help for the GOP and follies like you. You name one president of the USA that have kept all the promises they have made and I won’t call you ugly minded. Wake up Carnell and get your ACT together!

Oren Elow….President Obama will WIN in Nov. 2012!!! And then he will finish the few things that he didn’t do in his first term. Read my response to Yvette. He has been much more amazing them people realize. What a horrible mess he had to deal with. Then add the hurricane, the oil spill, he didn’t get many breaks. Plus, the horrible repuke congress! The GOP will cut everything including your social security and medi-care, and all scientific programs. How could anyone forget the 8 years of Bush? He destroyed this country. Our President is a wonderful President and I for one will encourage everyone to vote for him.

First, President Obama did that Health Care Bill and got it passed in honor of his Mother. It was something he always wanted to happen. It came out weak because the repukes lied to people about what it was and the Democrat’s had no spine to come out and back up the President. But, he did get it thru! And like medi-care when it first passed it has gone thru a lot of changes because it too was weak in the beginning. You can add to this later and make changes to it. Getting it passed at all was a huge deal, and many people are benefitting from it even now. You can’t be rejected for a pre-condition. 40% of Americans have a pre-condition. Plus, your kids can stay covered until they are 26, under their parent’s insurance.

He saved the American Auto Industry, he stopped this country from going into a huge 1930′s type depression. He killed Osama Bin Laden, 22 Al Queda Leaders, 9 Pirates 2 months ago that had hostages that we got out safely. Plus, Kadafi. He is one of the strongest President’s in Foreign Affairs in many years. He has had to cope with a hurricane in Haiti that he didn’t mess up like BUSH. He dealt with the oil spill, the no-support from Congress. He had a JOBS BILL that they refused. He had many programs to help save your home, buy a new vehicle, start a new business, etc. And yes he stopped don’t ask don’t tell. He gave women equal pay in the first month of his Presidency, (signed it into law). My son got $8,000 when he bought his home, and another $8,000 when he bought his truck. He got help with his business too. Stem Cell research got funded again along with many scientific programs that the repukes had cut. Yes, I think he did a huge amount with very little help from his fellow democrat’s and that horrible congress. Oh, and one more thing in 2010 December he extended unemployment when Congress wanted it stopped.
