Don Cornelius’ Son, Tony Cornelius, Says Dad Called Him the Day He Died

Tony Cornelius said his dad was unhappy with some personal and health issues he’d been experiencing and phoned him the day he committed suicide.

In an interview with “CBS This Morning”, Cornelius  told  Gayle King that the call “was a call of urgency, and I came to his home immediately.”

“My father was extremely private,” said Tony Cornelius. “Unfortunately, when you’re a private person, you keep things inside.”

“Me, being extremely close to him, I could tell he was uncomfortable,” his son said.

Tony Cornelius did not address whether he was the one to find Don Cornelius’ body after he rushed over to the house. There was no suicide note.
