In this video, I discuss the many commenters to my post who are quick to mention the fact (as if it’s a revelation) that black people kill more black people in our neighborhoods than any other group. They say it as if we have no right to speak on the Trayvon Martin killing. My challenge [...]

the media inflates the “black on black” crime statistics. A great number of black people who are murdered are at the hands of non-blacks, but you won’t hear about that and white folks trying to shame us about our supposed lack of empathy of black criminal intent is just more of their blame the victim c**p.

This incident reminds me of my friend Yusef Hawkins that was killed in 1989 in brooklyn. When a march was organized, the white people in the area threw bricks, watermelons, and racial slurs at the predominately black group. So when people want to blame our people they tend to forget the actions of their own. Being a father of a 15yr old this incident hit home,I not only pray for my son’s safety daily, but the safety of others that are the same color as him. We as a black community must do better within our own areas to save our kids.

jackie cooper i believe you are right but at the same time we can not ignore the senseless killings of innocent black children from drive by shootings, turf wars, drug wars and the like, and of late parental killings. the murder rate among blacks in N.O. and Chicago alone are devastating.
the problem and the answers to this devastation lies with us, we must do something about violence in our communities.
what they say does not matter, what matters is saving our people.

I think the term “Black on Black crime is a trick to make us look down on ourselves. White people kill more whites than anyone else, Chinese kill more Chinese than anyone else as in all other races. It’s a fact most killings over 90% are done by people who know each other in some way, friends, spouses, acquaintences or even known enemys!
