Another former ‘Bad Boy’ artist bites the dust.
Former Bad Boy rapper G Dep. was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this morning for a murder that took place over 20 years ago. The case was considered a cold case until G. Dep, real name Trevelle Coleman, turned himself in last year and confessed to the mugging and murder. Coleman said he confessed to make things right with God.
Dep’s lawyer Anthony Ricco, said:
“My hope is that Trevell never wavers from his decision. Fifteen years is a long time. Fifteen years in the penitentiary for putting yourself there is an even longer time.”
Dep leaves behind his wife, who urged him not to confess, and two sons.

A man’s conscience should be his guide… 15 years is a tough pill to swallow, but if it brings him peace of mind, so be it.

Why could the judge have not shown some leniency? He turned himself in. That should have been more greatly honored.
