Black Pastor Tells CNN His Church Won’t Support Obama, Plans to Stay Home

Some black churchgoers are planning to stay home amid President Obama’s support of gay marriage, reports CNN.

Although some pastors, such as Ebenezer Baptist Church pastor Raphael Warnock, are telling their flock that Obama is “President of the U.S. and not Pastor of the U.S.”, some black pastors are strongly opposed to President Obama’s announcement, so much so that they’re willing to sit out the 2012 election.

Pastor Emmett Burns (also a state legislator) of Baltimore  is so upset about President Obama’s announcement that he publicly withdrew his support. Burns said that although he doesn’t plan to switch to Romney, he’s not voting for President Obama either. He’s staying home.

I urge the pastor to vote! Please vote for Mitt Romney! He will keep our country strong and won’t let it become socialist or communist like Obama wants.

Anyone remember when white ministers used the Bible to defend segregation? And the Mormons felt that their teachings said that black (or as Santorum said, Blah) people weren’t worthy of being ministers in their church?

Maybe we are advanced enough as people to realize that religion is a mirror for the love or hate in our hearts, and we can quit claiming our negative actions are because God, Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha or some other sky God demands our hatred.

did god say vengeance is mine, then why do we have all these mini gods judging people and their behaviour, aren’t we all considered works in progress, didn’t jesus say he without sin cast the first stone. when george w was running for his second term after going into iraq, they used the distraction of gay marriage and the black pastors went wild even though half the choir is gay and they continue to take thier tithes, the met with him and said if you can assure us gays won’t marry we will back you with bishop eddie long being the loudest. they didn’t say help send more officers to help us with the genocide of our own youth, they didn’t say help us build up our crumbling neighborhoods around our multi million dollar churches, they didn’t say feed our hungry, they didn’t say give our youth jobs so they don’t have to sell drugs, the didn’t say when our incarcerated men have served their time and paid their debt to society give them back their citizenship and take those questions off applications about crimes committed so they can get a job, they didn’t say give our people healthcare, no they took the high road the road that has destroyed our neighborhoods and have mothers burying their children, they went after the dreaded gays. but you know the white man has been good at distracting black folks since slavery throw em a bible and tell them life is better in heaven even though they suffer here, take you azz back to the plantation.

If he or any other Pastor wants their Congregation to stay home, then they can stay the h**l home “FOR GOOD!” People need to learn to live and let live. Gay people are going to do what they want to do anyway, whether it is validated by a piece of paper or not. There are Black couples who have been “married” for years. Who gives a d**n “against” them getting the rights of heterosexuals now? Those against it are probably MAD because no same s*x person is looking at “them!” Want to stay home? Stay the h**l home! You people are among a VERY FEW that WILL stay home. Better learn to support Barack, and cut your b******g out for real! Bush left Omama with a bunch of bullshit to deal with. Even Bushs’ alcoholic, “pickled” daughteers had the audacity to leave messages, trying to tell Baracks two small daughters how to live in the White house, on their way out. Ya’ll need to recognize and support Barack in EVERYTHING he does.

I am not an advocate of homosexuality. I am also not an advocate of ignorance. The issues at stake are larger than teh president’s view on gay marriage.

The pastor would understand if the congregation also stayed home on any Sunday morning and kept their tithe at the house.

I am an African American pastor.

He didn’t close Gitmo like he promised. He didn’t end the 12 Billion dollars a month for a over a decade Wars in Irag and Afghanistan like he promised. He supposedly ended the War in Iraq yet we still have over 250,000 private military contractors working there doing what soldiers did at twice the cost per man. He helped France and England bomb a country like Libya back into the stone age setting them back at least 50 years and killed their leader to put in place the same Al Queda government that we have been supposedly fighting against. Yes, he did kill Osama Bin Laden. But, explain to me and everyone else reading this why we are still in Afghanistan a day longer after that? For centuries every Empire throughout recorded time has gone into Afghanistan only to waste lives and countless resources for what. A country that 80% of it’s GDP comes from the illegal sale of Black Tar Heroin? A country where Karzai’s brother was the head of that very same drug cartel, until Karzai got a little mouthy and the CIA had his brother Killed. A country where it’s still legal to rape a woman yet we’re spreading Democracy a horrible form of government that we don’t even live under as a Constitutional Republic. Obama increased drone bombing strikes in Africa, increased the globalization of AFRICOM. An imperialist racist ideology where America gets to rob the resources of Africa but Africans get slave labor wages no insurance, training, education or labor laws for their wealth. The icing on the cake. He signed into Federal Law that the government and any future President has the right to arrest and detain anyone on planet Earth without Charges or evidence. A constitutional Law Professor just used the Constitution as toilet and not a peep out of Black People who are going to be the first ones this garbage is used against? I’m all for gay marriage, let them be as miserable as the rest of society. But Obama lost me a long time ago. This whole fantasy ideal that whenever we read this guy and ask what has he done for Black People we get the ‘he is the President for everyone’ rhetoric. Why is it that when we are dealing with other Black People we shouldn’t expect them to treat us the same way white people treat each other. Bush took care of his people and every other President. But not us? f**k Obama. I would rather see my mortal enemy win one and prove to all these clowns that take my vote and me for granted that you don’t own me. Then let this clown and hypocrit win anything. Obama has done something more evil than any other Republican could ever achieve. He has lulled all my people to sleep. Giving up your causes, civil rights, Due Process and economic position just so you can feel good about a man with Black skin who is basically a Republican from 15 years ago in the White House. The question goes unanswered. What has Obama done for Black People? Not everyone but things that Black People benefit from as a voting block. Not a peep about the Aids/HIV epidemic, mass incarceration, the useless War on Drugs, the out of control Police Force, Stand your Grounds Laws? No Leadership that comes to s**t that kills us and ruins lives but he can sing like Al f*****g Green so you want to vote for this clown. GTFO here! Something is terribly wrong here when a racist White man like Ron Paul can address more issues and give valid solutions to those problesm then a Black Man that we voted for.

Dammit family you said everything that needed to be said… period… point blank… All of these people on here talking about he is the president of everybody, while at the same time basically saying they are voting for him because he is black… And whats this Republican vs. Democrat nonsense… Are these people still so blind that they can see a difference between the two… they are the same greedy machines with different moral opinions… Something that should not even matter when it comes down to voting… It should be all policy… And like you so eloquently stated, his policies aint s**t… He has only helped the richest people in the world get richer just like all the other presidents before him… and assisted the poor in getting poorer… forget black/white… lets talk rich/poor… He has made sure that his rich friends got richer, while he did at the same time… if it was Bush yall all would be crying foul… this clown does it and you just bend ova… this dude is no savior and the nobel peace prize should be taken back with all of the warmongering he engages in… yall need to stop with the ignorance and just read up on his policies… when he have yo folk locked up with no bail, no charges, no trial; what you gone say then… GET FREE OR DIE TRYING…

Churches should be able to preach and believe whatever they want to believe. BUT, I do believe that the IRS needs to be working overtime to revoke the tax-exempt statuses of those churches who take it too far and stick their nose into the political arena, trying to influence elections and such. Keep your views, opinions and interpretations within your four walls and out of the public sector! And if Obama’s announcement that his PERSONAL opinion is that he believes two consenting adults should be able to enter into the civil contract of marriage, regardless of gender…if that causes you to keep your ignorant self at home on Election Day or vote against your economic interests by voting for Romney, well you’re a dummy for cutting off your nose to spite your face, and my wish is that any post-election complaints you have about the state of affairs in this country falls on deaf ears.

He can stay his ignorant self home all he wants to, but the minute he starts preaching that b.s. from the pulpit, IRS better be knocking at that door to s****h that tax-exempt status and start collecting taxes ASAP! A one-issue voter – so incredibly dumb.

Oh the complete irony of the Rev.’s position on this topic. A man of the cloth telling his flock to turn their backs on a persecuted group. Christian? So not cool. In addition, what about the people who died for this preachers right to vote? He’s going to throw his vote away because essentially he’s scared of gay people having rights? Rev’s a real douche bag. I hope the congregation can see through his fear and make their own decision.
