Rev. Jesse Jackson Calls on Pastors to Support Obama’s Backing of Gay Marriage

Rev. Jesse Jackson has joined Rev. Al Sharpton in supporting President Obama’s call for support behind gay marriage.   Jackson even went so far as to compare the gay marriage issue to the fight against slavery and laws that kept blacks from marrying whites. “This is a bold step in the right direction for equal [...]

The North American Man Love Boy Association (NAMBLA) is so loving this right now.

After all, GLAAD and ILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association), the most out spoken proponents of gay marriage had embraced support from NAMBLA several years ago and allowed NAMBLA to partake in Pride celebrations for two decades. They denounced the group ONLY after funding support was threatened.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Man/Boy_Love_Association

Harry Hay, one of the founders of gay liberation, supported NAMBLA and so does Larry Kramer of ActUp and don’t forget the belong founder of the BeatNicks, Allen Ginsberg.

Remember, this is about redefining relationships of marriage is the vaguest of manner, “two consenting persons”. Come on, honestly guys; this is too vague. You know Twink fans are having a field day.

LGBTQ organizations have a lot of explaining to do before the public gives its stamp of approval on gay marriage. This is a legitimate concern for all Americans..white, black, gay, or straight.

Who’s guaranteeing it stops here with redefining? Remember, the fight and banner has always been about “s****l freedom” even during the days of the homophile movement.

Oh…and Jesse, you’re what the Bible calls a “Hireling”

    Peace.

I’m no Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton; I’m just a freelance writer, author, community activist, and advocating for affordable housings for those who need a decent place to live, and I ask all you Black Pastors not to vote for Obama. For now on let us Black people not give either Jackson or Al sharpton or cochons like them any leadership over us. They are all about the money and long ago sold us out for that money. So, Jackson ask you to vote for Obama, and I ask you, please, not to! With these men as our president and Black leaders we will continue to be served the crumbs from the table of the racist white society. Please, please, please, let us wake up and stop being pupets for money hungry Black and White leaders. Listen to what Paolo Coelhon said, “What the superior man seeks is in himself, what a small man seeks is in others.” Will we continue to be small and let others like Jesse and Sharpton, and even Obama think for us, or shell we be superior Black men and women and look to ourselves for leadership and power?

We often fail to consider the silent-suffering who represent a much-much larger demographic of the gay community than the world would care to admit. Indeed, if I was to count the number of closeted gay and lesbians who I’ve crossed paths with in my life, the number would equal or rival those out of the closet.

This, of course, fails to even address the screaming implication that an anonymous and unquantifiable section of the gay population has chosen complete and total isolation, unlike their closeted counterparts who meet men in hotel rooms, parks, and chat-rooms — both living their lives with fear and shame: one entirely detached and the other splintered.

But wait, we haven’t even had the opportunity to take off our slacks. What of those who are out of the closet but ruined emotionally and mentally from a lifetime of psychological scars? Kenneth Clark — Black and White Dolls – If people don’t understanding the ramifications of a lifetime of hurt, they never will without a common frame of reference. When gay children are told from the time they reach understanding that gay people are inferior and shameful, they don’t tell their parents that they’re gay; they just feel ashamed and inferior, or worse.

I was five when I realized and couldn’t understand why I was given this fate which seemed worse than death. I was jaded by middle school and ready to throw in the towel. I had no hope of ever finding happiness or acceptance. After all, there was nobody who really knew me but me; I was a little boy, scared and alone. Eventually my feelings of hopelessness and indignity turned to rage and explosive anger which I’ve had to work on a great deal as it began to affect my adult life.

I’m sure some of you will be able to relate to my story. When children lose their childhood and sense of self-worth because of long-seated hatred and animosity, it’s time for us to question the legitimacy of those beliefs. This is America: I love her, served her, and have faith in her people.

I don’t understand how some of the people that have commented on this story, seem to breathe their next breath. GRATITUDE. What does that mean to them? To be GRATEFUL for those that have come and gone? Those that have gave THEM the right to be RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW with their viewpoints? Their feelings? Whether it be Rosa Parks, sitting at the back of the bus or Martin Luther King, Jr. giving his famous speeches and standing up for the rights of those that were SILENCED and MISUNDERSTAND!!!

Hello, My name is Michael Kraemer, I am 28 years old…I could continue to say that I am white, from Wisconsin, USA, and identify as someone who attracted to those of the same s*x. Males. p***s. But Instead I will say this. I am HUMAN. I desire LOVE, I desire ACCEPTANCE, and most importantly I desire EQUALITY!

I realized who I was , when I was 14 years old. 1998…after Identifying myself as always being different…apon hearing the story…all over the news of Matthew Shepard’s death, where he was beat and tied to a fence and left for dead in Laramie, WY. I looked at him, his eyes, through photos, his story…his struggles, bullying, and ultimately his life was taken because of this….it was at that time that I felt so compassionate, so driven by his story….to be MYSELF!

Just like countless numbers of you who are here today with YOUR FREEDOMS…because of those who have either DIED of HATE CRIMES or those that are still living now dealing with serious emotional and mental problems because of these.

Each breathe we take….we should be GRATEFUL for such! Because if it wasn’t for the people that came before us and who FOUGHT for us, the future to be here. We wouldn’t be!

I am crying now with tears in my eyes, I say this. To those that feel…that this, the life I live, and countless others in this world who are subject to abuse, treated like 2nd class citizens…. HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT? HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF?!

If I had a choice…don’t you think that I would chose an EASIER way to live? Live with the fact that I could be sexually attracted to women? Have children and teach them the same ignorant things that are being taught?!

And who is to say that life is suppose to be this and that? What is BLACK and what is WHITE?

Because I remember at one time, things were just that..BLACK and WHITE! Segregated. JUDGED! HOW DOES IT FEEL?

Maybe you don’t remember because you weren’t around during that time!

    HAVE SOME EMPATHY AND COMPASSION!!!

Finally, read Samuel I, right after David slays Goliath. He gets taken into the house of Saul, where he meets Saul’s son Jonathan, “and the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” And they make a covenant. But Saul was jealous of David, because he was more popular with the people, so David has to flee. After a while, when David hears of the death of Jonathan, he laments, saying “Thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of a woman.” But not only does God not smite him for this, he goes on to make David King of all Israel. Since David also had wives and concubines, clearly he was bisexual, and obviously God loves bisexuals.

Dear Lady S., Actually, it is a bit of an overstatement to describe homosexuaity as “universally condemned in the Old and New Testaments.” The Bible is a big book, and in the whole book there are only six “clobber passages;” that is, passages that have been used to clobber the LGBT community. Six out of thousands of passages; doesn’t seem very important, does it? Homosexuality is not mentioned in the Ten Commandments, and what does Jesus say about it? Not one word. On the other hand, God repeats over and over that “thou shalt not have another God before me;” that’s the very First Commandment = clearly that was a really big deal to him.

And as it turns out, those passages were mistranslated. The ones in the Old Testament do not say do not lie with a “man” – the word is acutally “temple prostitute,” because in those days one way of worshipping other gods was to have s*x with temple prostitutes, and God was forbidding that. The story of Sodom, when it is referred back to later on, is clearly about their pride and inhospitality, not the same-s*x behavior (just READ the Bible). In the New Testament, the reference is in a list of forbidding sleeping with prostitutes, and is forbidding sleeping with young male prostitutes, basically pedophilia (I should HOPE so). Nowhere does the Bible forbid consenting s*x between two men who love each other. Google “The Clobber Passages: Reexamined by Bruce Gerig”

Dear Mr. Flynn, It is simply not true that homosexuality is unnatural. Please read “Homosexual Behavior in Animals” in Wikipedia. “No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist,” and it has been found in 1500 species. h**o and bisexuality IS Nature’s way.

As for gay people not breeding, the way the bi/gay gene (same gene) works is that it makes people find men more attractive. So the female relatives of bi/gay men have more childen, and of course bisexual men can have children. So the gene gets passed on by the bisexual men, and the female relatives. Google “Bisexuality passed on by ‘hyper-heterosexuals’” to get the research article.

John – you accuse others of not thinking logically, yet your posts aren’t logical OR factual. Obama isn’t perfect, but I think you’ve forgotten how we got into this mess in the first place. In 2000, gas was $.99 a gallon, we had nearly full employment, we hadn’t been involved in a war in 8 years and literacy, nutrition and upward mobility was still part of this nation. By 2008, we had experienced “the largest and fastest transfer of wealth UPWARD and out of the economy in human history” – that’s the facts. In 2000, we had an expanding economy and a comfortable surplus, a stable credit environment and the military wasn’t the only place young people could get a job. AND no one could be locked up without a name for any reason in this country legally. By 2008, not only had the surplus disappeared but the stable credit environment had been gutted. Bush got a Lamborghini; Obama got a Model T with no wheels. This mess wasn’t created or made worse by Obama, so let’s not turn our backs on the only guy in the country who is giving freedom and stability a chance just because he hasn’t cured the nation of every ill…yet. You gave Bush 8 years; can’t you do the same for Obama?

Question: “What is a eunuch in the Bible? What does the Bible say about eunuchs?”

Answer: The eunuchs of the Bible were castrated males or those born incapable of reproduction due to a birth defect. The purpose of intentional castration was to induce impotence and remove sexuality. It was a common practice in ancient times for rulers to castrate some of their servants and/or advisers in order to subdue and pacify them. It was especially common to castrate those who tended the royal harem.

In Matthew 19:12; Jesus mentions eunuchs. He says, “There are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it.” This discussion of eunuchs was in the context of the question asked of Him about whether it is good to marry.

Because Jesus says that some eunuchs are “born that way from their mother’s womb,” some gay Christian groups argue that He was referring to homosexuals. Others disagree, arguing that the Bible’s use of the word “eunuch” refers only to those incapable of s****l intercourse through castration or birth defect, those who choose a life of celibacy and those who perform the work typical of eunuchs though they remain perfectly capable of having s*x (and thus receive the title by association). The Bible never uses the words “homosexual” and “eunuch” interchangeably. Furthermore, eunuchs are never referred to in Scripture as being in sin, while homosexuality is universally condemned in both the Old and New Testaments.

Eunuch- A male servant of a royal household in bible times. Such servants were often emasculated by castration as a precautionary measure, especially if they served among the women in a ruler’s harem. (2 Kings 9:32;Ester 2:15). The new testament reported the conversion of a eunuch from Ethiopia under the ministry of Philp the evangelist (acts 8:26-38).

    ATTENTION CHRISTIANS! ATTENTION CHRISTIANS!

I am a black young gay person and I’m sick to death of so-called “Christians” touting the Bible for reasons of your bigotry. Jesus was NOT a bigot. EVER. Jesus loved EVERYBODY. He didn’t “love the sinner, hate the sin”. Jesus didn’t hate anything. In fact, the Bible says God hates only 7 things, and ONE of those is Divorce. Not being gay. God does not speak of being gay. The bible does not speak of lesbianism, modern-day adoption, monogamous same-s*x couples and a host of other things modern 21st century couples deal with. The Bible was written thousands upon thousands of years ago for a desert-dwelling people to get closer to God. And you use it now to condemn folks?

Wait! Aren’t you the same black people who were just told in the 60s that you had to sit at the back of the bus?? Just because of the way YOU were born? Yeah, that would be You. And here you are now, trying to oppress someone else! That’s so hypocritical that I don’t know WHAT else to call it. We as a black community should be ASHAMED of ourselves. We kick out our gay kids, demonize those suffering with HIV/AIDS YET our community suffers from these dangers the most. And why? Because of this bigotry that does nothing to help people. Out of ALL those gay folks out there in Israel back in the day, Jesus never had a problem with ANY of them. Gays back then were called EUNUCHS and Jesus said that people are “Born eunuchs, made eunuchs and CHOOSE TO BE eunuchs”. He more than supported gays, he LOVED THEM. He never spoke against them. But Jesus DID speak against lying, divorce, hate, killing and etc. But not once did he call out a limp-wristed queen for acting too fem.

Now I know that might blow some folks mind, but it’s called The Truth. And these so-called Pastors who are leading others to HATE and BIGOTRY are going to have to answer to the same God that made me gay and yet still saved my soul by grace. They’re going to have to answer for encouraging parents to toss their kids out on the streets. They’re going to have to answer for being on the downlow, calling gays boogymen and yet infecting others with AIDS. The women will have to answer to God for being hateful and assaulting the manhood of your sons and husbands while many of you play with women and spread gossip and hate in your own churches and communities. KNOW THAT GOD IS WATCHING YOU TOO. And that God will definitely deal with you and YOUR HATE as well.

No gay person asked to be gay. People are KILLING themselves over this…black kids, black grownups, white kids, white grownups…people KILL themselves for the hatred they face for being gay. Why would you be so IGNORANT as to think people CHOOSE something that they’d be hated for??? Are you really that THICK? God said in Isaiah that the Eunuch would be welcome…WELCOME…thank you JESUS!…Welcome in His temple and that our tree would NEVER run dry. Meaning Yes not all of us have kids (and many, many of us DO have kids or adopt) but just because some eunuchs (ancient word for gay) don’t have kids or aren’t considered “men” we are STILL welcome in HIS TEMPLE and STILL covered by his grace!

So hate on, bigots. I thank President Obama for standing on the right side of Justice! I thank him for helping to save some child’s life. I thank him for being a TRUE Christian and showing love to ALL of his neighbors. That’s why God has blessed him, and he’s the President. And that’s why you go on hating…which you, being a bigot…will have to answer for. I’d rather stand before God for loving another man, than have to stand before God for hating MILLIONS of MEN.

Now, let me go hold my mule.

There must come a time as people mature in the “word of God” and the teachings of Jesus that the realization comes that Christianity and civil liberties are not diabolically opposed! In my opinion Holy matrimony and marriage are two different concepts. The Bible speaks to the union of a man and a woman only in Holy Matrimony. Marriage was instuted by MAN for the purpose of legal protection, rights, etc. Judges, lawyers, and ships’ captains can perform the ceremony. God will be the final judge…not humans!

No one who values their faith in God should be persuaded to follow man’s rejection of scripture. You give unto Ceasar your taxes and follow the laws of the state, but you have faith in God thru his son Jesus whom is our spiritual discerner in all matters of truth. Anyone that does not go along with the gay agenda is called “homophobic” and in that sense is saying that God is too. Homosexuality today says break free from the constraints of the consciousness of the Word of God and live life free of religious stigma.

Since 72 percent of Afrikan American children are being raised in a single parent family Jackson, Sharpton, and Dyson should be trying to rally support for Afrikan American marriage.

So should praechers. Correction, like charity, begins at home. We have enough immorality in our communities and our churches to keep us all busy. “Take the mote out of your own eye before you take it out of your brothers eye.”

See the issue of same-s*x marriage is not an issue of homosexuality, but an issue of equal rights. With or without marriage, homosexuality has existed and exists today. Civil marriage grants married couples close to 2000 rights and privileges, that same-s*x couples have no access to. In times of sickness or death they are left unprotected. Their children are deprived of basic protections, healthcare, and legally recognized parenthood.
We as a community that has experienced so much oppression and discrimination should be the first to show solidarity with another minority that is experiencing similar hardship and inequality. Instead, we insist on equal treatment for ourselves and yet discriminated and judge against others. That is not Christ tought us. Christ taught us acceptance. He embraced Mary Magdalene, the prostitute, the sinner, he did not judge her and condemn her. We as Christians may not accept the lifestyle, we may not aprove of it, but we are not the ones to deprive other people of equality. And that is what our pastors should preach. Not hate!

Indefinite detention in Libya—coming to America, enabled and enacted by The Man of Lawlessness—Barack Obama.

“9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” –2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

I’m not sure if people are born gay or not; however, I do feel(I have no problem being wrong),that there is/was some type of physical/emotional abuse that took place at an early age to open the “Pandora’s Box” so to speak to being gay.

After living in the Bay area, California for twenty five years, I’ve known many women that were gay/bisexual, and in all the cases, they were abused by a male or female trusted family friend, when they were young and couldn’t defend themselves. Also, some of the women were physically abused by ex-husband/boyfriends. I personally dated four women in my life that considered themselves bisexual – two of them were abused by their mother’s boyfriend at a young age, one by a female baby sitter when she was six years old, and one who wasn’t abused physically, but grew up in a household where her mother was in a same-s*x relationship with another women(learned behavior).

I do feel that there is a gay political agenda for people to say they are “born gay” to gain political clout. By saying your born gay versus a “life style choice”, there is a better chance of having various laws past in their favor to gain political power.

I’ve heard people say, “I knew I was gay/different since I was three years old” – well I can’t remember where I put my car keys 20 minutes ago sometimes.

In addition, I feel that if you draw a pie chart, their will be some people that are born gay with more X/Y chromosomes, some that were abused emotionally/physically at a young age, some that grew up in a same-s*x house holds(learned behavior) and in the world we live in now where we see gay themes everyday – life style choice.

In conclusion, the same rule applies to gay men. Ask any gay/bisexual man, and if he is honest, I believe he was abused when he was young or turned out in the prison system – “gay for the stay”.

With that said, I will leave the judgement up to God, and not myself.

That has been my experience as well. I had a best girlfriend who I discover 10 years later, confessed she went to the other side. I stayed friends with her, encountered her gay friends, and all of them confessed they were abused by someone early in their life. Also, I psychologist friend who said the same thing since he somehow got a large gay clientale.

If you talk to ANY group of women who are willing to be honest, you will discover that the majority of those women – church women, activist women, corporate women – will also report exactly the same thing. I’ve found it fascinating that many women don’t even know that having your 20 year old cousin jump on them when they were 12 was abuse; that an 11-year old can’t have a “consensual” relationship with a 24-year old man, etc.
There’s a ton of research that proves homosexuality is NOT the result of abuse, but the result of the individuals capacity for feeling love for a same-s*x partner instead of an opposite-s*x partner – love, not abuse.
If all the women who have been abused in this country turned into lesbians, we’d be living in Lesbiana by now :)
And finally, if you can’t tell the difference between Obama and the Other Guys, you are definitely not paying attention! There is exactly one candidate that gives a d**n about the unemployed…and it ain’t the Republicans!

I was a supporter of marriage equality before Obama officially was, and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were supporters of Marriage Equality BEFORE Obama became president even, so I don’t know what you guys are talking about. It’s not “b/c Obama does it , it’s ok.” It’s ok because it IS ok.

We can have faith, but part of understanding our faith is understanding our history as black people, and while the black church was a great motivator of the civil rights movement, Christianity as well was used to justify many horrible acts against our people in this country.

In fact, we also must remember that we would not have black history without black gay people like Langston Hughes, Lorraine Hansberry, Little Richard, Barbara Jordan, and Bayard Rustin (whom was key to the success of many important civil rights events like the March on Washington and the Buss Boycott for example).

Not to mention why would we ever want to side with the KKK on anything?

I’m sure the preachers in the black church are not coming out of mean spiritedness, but they are human and they sometimes put words in God’s mouth. Jesus never said a word about homosexuality, but he said everything about loving thy neighbor as thyself.

President Obama swore to defend the Constitution, not the Bible.

Here’s some Bille for you, “Defend the poor and the fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and the needy.” Psalm 82:3
President is going a lot further in applying this scripture than any Republican in Congress. Wake up people!

For all of the jobless drawing unemployment for two years instead of six months, thank President Obama.

While you’re at it, thank him for fighting cuts in Pell grants; for getting banks out of the student loan business giving more money to students; for fighting for passage of a jobs bill to put people back to work, for fighting against giving tax cuts to oil companies and companies that lay off workers and outsource American jobs and for trying to make the rich pay their fair share of taxes. Thank him for the hundreds of thousands of insured children; thank him because insurance companies can no longer drop you because you get sick, thank him for the Lilly Leddbetter equal pay act. So much more to thank our President for; too much to mention.

Sue, you are dead wrong. You do not know how to think in a logical way. Obummer has done more damage to race relations in this country then any other president in history. He said if he had a son, it would look like Trayvon, he said the police acted “stupidly” in the DC/Professor case. He should keep his mouth shut if all he can do is cause race division !! He has put us in so much debt we will not be able to get good healthcare in the future. There will be death panels when the government tells your doctor what procedures can and cannot be done. just look at what the Czars he has installed have said about health and energy. Obummer says energy costs must skyrocket. Have you even listened to watched what he has said and done?
Sue, you need to wake up and stop supporting him just because he is black. Use your head, use the facts, use logic, not just your feelings !!

For those who are arguing against gay marriage based on the bible are no better than the white religious people in the 1960′s that used the SIn of Ham to justify slavery or the verses talking about the tribe of Israel not intermarrying with other groups to justify the bans against interracial marriage.

Never voting again? Count on staying unemployed, gas staying high and having no insurance. Why I certainly hope not, perhaps you’ll be one of the 50,000 Americans who die needlessly and prematurely due to lack of access to basic preventive care and life saving treatments. I could also be someone you love. Don’t vote, don’t complain!

President Obama isn’t the President of Blacks or Christians, he’s President of the United States. He’s President to all including gay people. He swore to defend the Constitution, not the Bible. That includes the 14th Amendment, “No State shall deny any person … the equal protection of the laws.”

For all of the jobless drawing unemployment for two years instead of six months, thank President Obama.

Our President isn’t supporting legalizing anything. He merely gave his personal opinion about equal treatment for all Americans. No more, no less. For those of you against gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person. If we’d put as much energy into keeping homosexual, fornicating preachers, deacons, missionaries, … out of the pulpits in our churches, we’d be more credible in this morality rant.

Under the red, white, and blue we are all AMERICANS….no matter what makes us different. That was a very tacky and tasteless comment to make. Yes you are entitled to your own views but Obama is not a leader just for black folks like myself, or straight folks as you may seem to be, he is a leader who want all Americans to be free to live the American dream…like it or not he gets my vote this November as a gay black male.
