Last night, Politico published a breakdown of how ABC’s Robin Roberts scored thePresident Obama gay marriage interviewyesterday and, through several
producers and media analysts, offered up these non-media-related credentials: Black. Christian. 50-year-old. Sports fan. Female.
The only part the report omitted was the near-open secret that Roberts is a lesbian. A source close to ABC executives told us that although the interview is, at this point, the biggest of her professional career, Roberts wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the scoop because she thought it would bring her own sexuality to the forefront.
“Most of the discussions [among TV people] today about why Robin got the interview have to do with her being gay,” a source told Gawker. “Not that she’s black, or friends of the Obamas.”
“Obviously they picked her because she’s black and gay,” said another industry insider familiar with the selection.
Plus, her mother was in town to visit her in New York, sources say. Watershed interview with POTUS or not, Roberts didn’t want to stand up mom.

When I read this, the first thing that came to my mind was Mary J. Blige. We complain about limited opportunities for African Americans in the entertainment and news industries, and then when they get opportunities, we have issues with the opportunities that they get. I would hope that the first African American POTUS would look to give such an opportunity to a African American journalist. However, he would have to select one that was less likely to start a debate like, say Tavis Smiley or Roland Martin (not that Roland would ever work in this situation). Maybe he just has a thing for tall black women. After all, he’s been married to one for a minute or two.
As for her fears of being “outted,” hmmm… She’s a former athlete: not evidence. She’s tall: not evidence. She has short hair: recall she had breast cancer? She’s not always gushing about the husband and kids: her job is to report the news. She is not the news. Did I kinda get the feeling she might be? Maybe? Did it really matter to me one way or the other? Not really: it has no bearing on her ability to do her job…and do it quite well.
I guess the whole question of if the White House selected her on purpose is supposed to be a divisive issue: I hope they did select her on purpose. Kind of b***h-slaps a lot of ignorant stereotypes floating around out there.

I picked up from her mannerisms which brings me to this thought…if a male or female are dating or in love with the same s*x, why does a partner in those relationships take on the mannerisms of acting like a woman or acting like a man? Two men should act like two men…Two women should act like two women. A man acting feminine or a woman acting masculine is not what our Creator had in mind.

Isn’t that an open secret,so what’s the big deal?? Can she do the job she is paid to do? Then her private life is PRIVATE, although she is in the public eye, when she is off the clock, her time is hers to do as she pleases. next ….

Roll call or the team list is really going to be interesting when we get to heaven and find out who made the cut; athletically speaking. In other words, who qualified to be on God’s team for the big game.
