The NAACP came out in favor of same sex marriage shortly after President Obama made his announcement, leading some to believe that the organization’s announcement had more to do with giving the President cover than standing on principle.
When Fox News’ Kelly Wright asked Wall Street Journal editorial board member Jason Riley what he thought of the NAACP decision, Riley said, the NAACP “primarily promotes Democratic interests” , and that those interests are not necessarily black interests.
Riley added that the “the NAACP, for the past 30, 40 years, have been primarily promoted Democratic interests….whether you’re talking about education or the economy and jobs.”
Riley also questioned whether the NAACP’s members are in agreement with the organization’s decision to support gay marriage.
