Yvette Carnell went hard on Oprah Winfrey for engaging in the unexpected act of interviewing Kim Kardashian. Yvette describes Kim as part of Oprah’s “race to the bottom,” as she interviewed a woman that Carnell says to be without talent or class. The Kim Kardashian interview is considered to be one of the low points of Oprah Winfrey’s career, as she works hard to keep her position as a leading celebrity and iconic figure. Her new network, OWN, has seen losses in the hundreds of millions, as Winfrey digs deep into her Rolodex landing nearly any celebrity interview she can get her hands on. Says Carnell:
I admit that I’ve always been a lifelong Oprah fan, but I was a fan for one reason: Meaning. I always felt that I could glean a bit more meaning from the
Oprah Winfrey Show than I could from Jerry Springer or Maury Povich, both which are tabloid filth. Oprah was, at least to me, a step above the rest.
But by interviewing the talentless and classless Kardashian clan, Oprah’s become part of the race to the bottom, a sort of bottom feeding that she shunned during most (not all) of her years on network TV.
