On Juneteenth, Adidas Drops It’s “Shackle Slave Sneakers” from the Lineup

It’s Juneteenth and common sense has finally prevailed on the issue of racial sensitivity.  Adidas was under heavy fire for releasing sneakers that looked like they had slave shackles on them.  The public outcry from millions around the world, plus Rev. Jesse Jackson and Dr. Boyce Watkins’ viral article on Your Black World has finally pushed the company to stop the release of the shoe.

After massive public backlash, Adidas has announced that it no longer has plans to release the shackled sneaker that it was planning to put on the market in August.  The sneaker, called the JS Roundhouse Mids, were originally placed on the Adidas Facebook page.
