Ronald Page’s luck has finally run out.
When Page made a quick stop at the ATM and the malfunctioning machine dispensed more than $1.5 million dollars to him back in 2009, he knew it was his lucky day. So much so that he decided to try his luck at the casino. The 56-year-old retired autoworker from Detroit b****d through his newfound riches at the blackjack tables.
A federal judge sentenced Page to 15 months in prison and ordered him to pay back the money to Bank of America. He receives a $2000 per month pension check from General Motors where he worked.
“I am completely apologetic to Bank of America,” Page said. “I knew I was wrong. I was sick… But I plan to get well.”
According to Page’s lawyer, he is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who got hooked in gambling. Once he realized he could withdraw unlimited amounts of money from the bank, he began withdrawing amounts ranging from $51,477 to $514,779. By the time noticed the error, Page had already withdrawn $1,543,104 that wasn’t his. He lost all of the money at the casino.
After the incident, Page lost his wife and his home.
