The Tea Party should really get a check on their propensity for violence, but they won’t because what they want, more than anything, is a Civil War redo.
When President Obama was elected, Tea Partiers mounted their pick-up trucks and marched on the National Mall with signs that read, “We Came Unarmed…. This Time.”
Then, they began to show up at political events with guns in holsters, grimacing menacingly at progressives and media types who would dare question why any sane person would brandish a gun at a non-v*****t political event. I have an answer to all who’ve pondered this question since 2009: A bully. Only a bully would show up at a political event with a pistol or rifle. Only a bully would rely on intimidation as a political tactic. Only a bully would call for a v*****t overthrow of the U.S. government over a fair Supreme Court verdict:
You may not agree with the Supreme Court’s decision on health care, but it was a fair one, and that’s how our judicial process works.
Remind me, did Al g**e call for an armed overthrow of the government when the Supreme Court selected Bush as the next President, even though g**e had won the election fair and square? No, even though as Progressives we were within our rights to revolt since the Supreme Court overrode a democratic vote with their ruling, we didn’t. We didn’t revolt because we’re not brats or bullies.
And just in case you think this Tea Partier’s reaction to Friday’s Supreme Court verdict is an isolated incident, consider the Tea Partier who said he wishes all 5 of the Supreme Court Justices who voted in favor of Obamacare get colon cancer.
The right wing believe this country belongs to them, and only them. They refuse to share. But they’ll fight you for it. There is a traitorous lineage within the Tea Party which extends all the way from the Confederacy, and we may yet end there again. They’re itching for a fight, and I doubt they’ll be happy until we give them one.
