Yvette Carnell Asks: Why are There Tanks Rolling Around St. Louis?

Yvette Carnell at KultureKritic.com notes that there are tanks floating around the city of St. Louis.  Carnell notes that the tanks are likely part of military exercises to help the army prepare to fight in urban settings against American citizens.  She notes that the military claims that it’s goal is to protect America’s cities, but Carnell wonders if the motivations are a bit more sinister.  Says Carnell:

The U.S. military claims it’s a training to teach soldiers to drive tanks, but since when is that the protocol?  Why does this particular training exercise have military armored  tanks roaming the streets of a major U.S. city?

Apparently, army troops all the way from Maryland are training in Missouri, but why? The army has their own taxpayer funded make-believe urban theaters to practice war games, so again, why are they in St. Louis?
