Dr. Boyce: If You’re in College and Someone Hazes You, DO NOT Remain Silent
Dr. Boyce Watkins has noted in the past that he is not a fan of hazing within greek letter organizations. A light has been shined on hazing since the death of Florida State University student Robert Champion. Watkins, who teaches at Syracuse University, says “If you’re supposed to be in college to learn and make a future for yourself, why in the h**l do you waste your time engaged in a bunch of counter productive and wasteful nonsense?”
Dr. Watkins respects Greek letter organizations, but says that hazing should not be tolerated. Additionally, he says that any student who is victimized by hazing should report the activity so that other students are not harmed or killed in the process.
