Maria Lloyd: Why Hair Salons Continue to Fail Black Women

Maria Lloyd, writing for NaturallyMoi.com expresses some standard concerns about black women going to the hair salon.   She says that black women are disrespected when they head to the salon, forced to wait for long periods of time, and then asked to dole out insane sums of money.  This leads us to wonder if black women are paying too high of a personal and financial cost for looking good.  NaturallyMoi.com says:

I recently ran across an article written by salon owner, Najah Aziz describing the utter disrespect black women face in the hair salon. She painted a picture that many of us are too familiar with: You arrive to your  prescheduled hair appointment on-time, but you’re asked to wait. You get ushered to the shampoo bowl and after being shampooed, you’re asked to wait. You sit under the dryer and after the dryer stops, you’re asked to wait.
