Republicans, Afraid to Confront Black Journalists, Bail Out on the NABJ Completely

There is usually an odd amount of double speak in the Republican Party.  On one hand, they say that they want more minority voters.  But on the other hand, they end up doing things like this.  The National Association of Black Journalists could not help but to express its disappointment that the entire Mitt Romney team, as well as all leading Republicans, turned down its invitation to join them at their national convention.

This highly-publicized snub only adds fuel to the arguments of those who feel that the Republican Party continues to ignore African American voters.  The Republicans gave no explanation for why they were a no-show.   BlackBlueDog.com tells more:

The Republican National committee and GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney have rejected invitations to attend the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention this year.

The decision marks a stark contrast from that of the White House, who sent several speakers to the convention last week. Vice President Biden addressed the event at its opening night Wednesday, and at least seven Obama administration press contacts and campaign representatives appeared at a series of sessions Friday afternoon.
