There seems to be a lot of confusion about whether or not Chris Brown has been doing his community service work or not. Brown may not be submitting the documentation needed to prove that he is performing his supervised community service. There is also some confusion crossing borders as Brown was allowed to carry out is community service outside of the state where he was convicted.
The confusion seems to be based on a lack of communication between Brown and the courts. Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray requested Brown’s service records to find out how much community service he had done since the sentencing. Brown has been allowed to complete six months of service in his home state of Virginia instead of in Los Angeles where Brown had originally been sentenced. Brown’s supervised community service features glamourous activities such as removing graffiti, manual labor and roadside clean up.
Brown was convicted of battering his then-girlfriend, Pop star Rihanna. The R&B star received 180 days of community service as the terms of his 2009 probation. The two have recently been communicating through Twitter, tweeting things to and about each other. Brown tweeted his condolences for Rihanna’s family after the death of her grandmother. Brown was also affected by her death as the two had become close during his relationship with Rihanna. The duo have also produced music together since he beat her up back in 2009.
Brown has issued the detailed service reports to the district attorney in the past but not recently, which is why Murray requested Brown’s forms. In February at Brown’s probational hearing is was reported that Brown had attended court ordered anger-management and domestic-violence counseling. It was also reported that Brown had completed 6 months of community service. Brown’s next hearing is set for the end of August.
