A prestigious high school in Alexandria, Va. is facing allegations of discrimination. Two separate organizations have filed suit against the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
The Coalition of The Silence, a local minority advocacy group, and the NAACP filed a complaint to the U.S. Department of Education Monday alleging that black and Latino students were not being properly identified for admission into the school’s programs.
“Poor Latino kids are not being identified, and I worry part of that is language,” Martina Hone of the Coalition of Silence said in an interview with NBC Washington. “African-American kids are not being identified. I’m worried that’s race.”

Derrick; YOur post was so on point!!! I’m in my mid 50s, my family is from DC, all born, raised, educated, worked, married, and died, here; I can remember my grandfather telling me as a child that segregation was not going to be good for little black children, and he was right! Instead of assimilating into their world, we should have demanded money for our own schools to educate our own.
