Man Cleared of Rape Charges 30 Years After Being Sent to Prison
It might be time to consider giving access to DNA testing for anyone who was convicted of rape. Yet another man was released from prison this week after it was determined via DNA evidence that he never raped anyone. The case occurred in Illinois, a state where convictions are regularly overturned, and many of the victims are not adequately compensated for their “inconvenience.” The case has led to a firestorm of controversy, as there are now calls for anyone convicted of rape to have access to the same reviews so that their cases can be confirmed.
