Black Pastors Say They’re Ashamed of Obama, Demand White House Meeting on Gay Marriage

The Coalition of African-American Pastors is demanding a meeting with President Obama in order to discuss same s*x marriage. The group says it will continue to turn up the heat on the issue unless Obama grants the meeting.

“We have requested a meeting with President Obama and until he meets with us, we are going to ask black Christians to withhold their support until he personally hears our concerns,” the group’s spokesperson, the Rev. Bill Owens, told The Christian Post on Tuesday after Monday’s press conference in Nashville.

“More than anything, this is an issue of biblical principles and President Obama is carrying our nation down a dangerous road. Many African Americans were once proud of our president but now many are ashamed of his actions.”

Owens also said his group is frustrated because it hasn’t received a response from the White House.

“We can’t compete with the Hollywood folks who are raising the big bucks for the president,” Owens said. “But it was black folks who rallied around him in 2008 and for him to ignore our request with a group of clergy who represents tens of thousands of black Christians of many denominations is an insult.”

There are some that need to read the Bible, Romans 1:24-28 and see what God has to say about the issue, these pastors are represenatives of the word of God I did’t not see Obama’s name in there any where, God did not ask for his opinion, what he thinks does not change the word of God, let the prez create his own world and then he can make laws to govern it from the rant Obama’s world would be full. It is written before the end of time many will fall away from the faith, Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, today many are selling out Jesus for empty promises from the prez.

I am a black christian. I do not agree with same s*x marriage. As hard as I try to reconcile my feeling and attitude, it does not fit! Does that make me a homophobe, I think not. I have family members who are homosexual. I love them dearly. Yet I would not attend a same s*x marriage. I do know many individuals who were against same s*x marriage until it was affirmed by President Obama. More likely than not same s*x marriage will become the law of the land, I still will not support it. I think there are equally if not more important issues impacting the black community: black on black murder/crime, abortion (38% of all abortions are performed on black females), nearly 70% of black babies are born to a single parent, the incident of HIV is highest in the black community, nearly 40% unemployment in some areas. Do black pastors address those issues? Do our self appointed, media annointed, christian in name only, black leaders address those issues? President Obama can do little to impact those issues. Yet, he can creat an environment of dialogue leading to solutions (at a minimum). He did lots more for Hispanics and gays. Then again, he may be a little reluctant to address those issues. The last time he addressed wayward black fathers one of our, christian in name only, leaders stated he would like to cut off a certain part of his manhood. The black community needs help and that help starts with the individual. Depending on the President or other black elected leaders has gotten us absolutely nowhere.

To the few black pastors,I am ashamed of each one of you. What is the difference between adultery and homsexuality? Sin is Sin in the Bible. There are some who are born Gay and some who are molested. They lost there gender identiy. Most of this begin in the churches-right in the music dept and pastors were aware,if they didnot play a part in it.What is in the dark God always bring into the light.Take the time to read Billy Preston life story!!!Jesus is about loving everybody and gave us all free will. There will be many churches going to h**l, Be Careful Pastors!!God put Obama in the White House. You should be fasting and praying for him. What other man could be the
first Black man to go to WH.He was a Christian family man, didn’t have any honeys on the side and could keep his calmness in the midst of hate and disrespect. He has to give an account to God for all his sins..Remember David!!!Go back, read your Bible, fast, pray, and leave Obama along.Touch not my anointed!!!!!Black People Silence is Golden, and stop begging and crying!!!!

Ronald Reagan started the mass incarceration of Black men with his so-called war on drugs, Bill Clinton actually upped the anty, and the Bushes certainly didn’t give a d**n. Where has Pastor Owens and these other 15 Pastors been all this time on such an important issue affecting the Black community? They are simply jumping on this issue because they know they can get an ignorantly significant number of black folks riled up, it gets them in the news, and they feel important. I’m ashamed of these ignorant Pastors.

Some of these Black Church pastors have gone str8 “crae crae”. They refuse to acknowledge and accept that Obama’s support for Gay Marriage was an acknowledgement of his personal stance (i.e. perspective, beliefs, experiences, observations). He is entitled to that as a humanbeing, politician and Man– just like they have their own. These Black Church ministers are deeply unaware of how CONTROLING and arrogant and EGOTISTICAL they come across by making such public demands– with no sound reasoning to back them up. I would be ashamed of President Obama if he gave his attention and time to host such a bigoted group of ignorant, egotistical and irrational who seek to promote theological buffornery based upon their skewed interpretations. Clearly they have NO LIFE, WITH NO MEANING and by SHOUTING SO LOUD, they are hoping to acquire the Validation that there intellecutal and theological inadequacy was not able to fulfill within them. LAWD… these people are a MESS. Thank God for the separation of Church and State.

“Jesus loves the the little children All the little children of the world, whether yellow, black or white, we are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.” (sorry I don’t know the originator). Some people you have to ignore in the name of the Lord, hallelujah, ham’mercy somebody obviously these prognosticating profits of profundity are in fact those types. Vote POTUS Obama another 4 years.

I concur with the view above. I could quickly assemble 16 black pastors who are pro LGBTQI and support same s*x unions. I could probably find 16 who have actually performed a same s*x commitment/covenant service. Indeed, of the top of my head, I know 3 black clergy who are in same s*x marriages.

your title should read, some black pastors say they’re ashamed of obama.

This is 16 pastors, they do not speak for the majority of black pastors or people…they speak for themselves. Therefore I’m glad President Obama is not meeting with these pulpit/shakedown pimps.

This is what there spokesperson said, “Let me be clear about this,” Rev. Owens said. “Our group does not speak for any denomination – not the AME nor COGIC (Church of God In Christ) or anyone else.

Proof that they are small time without a lot of support. Below is the statement from the AME church:

The AME church issued a response on Monday in an effort to distance themselves from the Coalition of African American Pastors and in fact is encouraging the church to actively register voters for the upcoming election.
“As a denomination, we do not endorse candidates for any political office. As such, we cannot “withdraw” support from President Obama because we cannot endorse any candidate for political office and did not endorse the president,” said Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr., president of the AME Church Council of Bishops, in a written statement.

“We call upon each of our congregants to become registered and vote on Election Day and urge all of our churches to conduct voter registration drives.”

Nice try Boyce, but we got cha!
