The body of a 3 year old Memphis boy whose father said his son’s kidnapping may’ve been gang related has been found in a trash bin
near his home.
Maurice Brown Sr. originally said that he was affiliated with a gang called the Grapestreets, and that another gang may’ve taken his son in retaliation. Brown said he was asleep in the house when his son went missing.
“I searched the house and he was nowhere to be found,” he told reporters.
But CBS News reported that police found a pool of blood in the house. Also, a witness told police Brown left the apartment with a child draped over his shoulder at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The witness said the child was Maurice Jr.
Maurice Brown Sr. was charged with child neglect and endangerment after these new revelations came to light.
The boy’s mother lives in Arkansas but had brought Maurice Jr. to Memphis to be with his father for the summer.
