It is tragic when a child dies because of the irresponsibility of adults, but even more tragic is the idea that the adult responsible would head for hills when caught. This is exactly what happened in Virginia when a grandmother allegedly allowed her granddaughter to get hold of a pill that killed her, and then took off:
Virginia police are seaching for a woman whose granddaughter died after consuming prescription pills that were kept in a candy dish.
Last week Suffolk prosecutors issued an indictment against Kimberly Artis, 39, and her boyfriend, Steven Bullock, 51. They are charged in the death of Artis’ 2-year-old granddaughter, Destiny Riddick, in July 2011.
When the indictments were issued, Artis reportedly told police that the couple would turn themselves in, but they never did.

The situation in the black culture in this country is worst than terrible. Even when some of us get out of poverty, our self esteem is so low that it makes falling into the many pitfalls along the way inevitable.

The law needs to find those two and tar and feather them!!! Why in the h**l would they leave pills in a bowl where this baby could get them. the child probably thought it was candy!!! the idiots!!! If the grandmother is 39 than how old is the child’s mother?

This story is pitiful, poor baby when there are children around we have to be very careful. grandmother 39 is not unusual in this day and age I know great grands that have yet to reach their 50s

@KennyCraddock, Wow, you said it man! These kids are making kids and have real low or no self esteem, and perpetuate that to the next generation. A vicious cycle, indeed. Our music was, and is the best that African Americans ever contributed to the world. Kind of miss that era now looking at today’s future.

Kennycradduck, you are right on. I too am sick and tired of excuses. Very few people have an easy life. I certainly didn’t. I play the old songs on my guitar, and wonder how in h**l we let ourselves sink so low as to tolerate the disgusting hip hop and rap songs that pollute the minds of our youth. Maybe it’s the DEATH WISH syndrome.

Grandmother 39, thats the problem irresponsible kids raising kids, This is a tragedy. After having worked in the “hood” over 12 years for a Healthcare HMO, involved in the Medicaid program I found that this is a somewhat normal scenario. These last generations have no connection with true spirituality (notice I did not say religion), devastating hip-hop, BET (“back that thang up”), no morality instilled, no sense of history, tattoos masking inner problems with self-image (whites also),sexuality gone wild, no remorse for hurting others even so much as killing another person, and we wonder why all this is happening. h**l when I’m walking down the street and 3 or more young hip-hop, pants sagging, tattoo wearing, cussing young black males are approaching me, I put on my Newark, NJ (BrickCity) swagger to let them know they had better think twice before messing with me as opposed to being in a predominately white suburb where I also grew up, and spent equally as much time, with 3 or more white young males approaching, I’m unfazed, where I can be more myself, what a shame I have to “gird up my loins” when in ghetto black areas, sad but true. Well Black Folk who created the problem? We did ourselves by not raising OUR OWN children correct. Understanding that many of us left the ghetto and ghetto thinking but by allowing those in the ghetto to overtake the brilliant minds of our youth, allowing, wealthy, white money-making record companies market TRASH HIP-HOP to our youth and black owned and operated BET,Bob Johnson CEO (yes I’m calling you out you f*****g black b*****d),and Us not staying home long enough to RAISE our OWN kids thereby instilling in them virtues, morality, and a sense of divinity thru spirituality not religion. It is OUR fault for letting all this happen. It is up to us to start reversing the trend. Parents who TRULY love your children teach them right from wrong, and the RESPECT for ALL humanity irregardless of race, creed or color, teach them that we are ALL God’s children. Stop making excuses as the white man’s fault, start taking responsibility for your own actions. START being Grown-a*s Men and Women and STOP being Pussyfied Wimps always making excuses. Take control of yourself and your households for the better. Start playing a lot of James Brown “Say it loud I’m Black and I’m Proud” and Curtis Mayfield “Keep On Pushing” and Earth Wind and Fire “Keep Your Head To The Sky” and Marvin Gaye “Whats Going ON” and Stevie Wonder “Loves In Need Of Love Today” and not just for them to sample to put irrelevant, meaningless, stupid, nonsensical, words which these kids can repeat verbatim as they internalize without realization of awareness in the subconscious. Teach them to listen to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, read WEB Dubois, Carter G. Woodson, Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglas. IF ITS UP TO US, WE MUST. A 39 year old grandmother thats some BULLSHIT that never should have happened.

A)The grandmother is 39.
B)She left the prescription pills in a candy dish knowing there was a child in the house.

HIV is synthetic. It has been developed over a number of years and it has an affinity for people of color.
