You can’t help everybody, and it appears that Oprah Winfrey is learning this the hard way. Apparently, Vernon Winfrey’s barbershop was in danger of foreclosure, so Oprah reportedly did the right thing, and bought the property outright so her dad wouldn’t lose his shop. But Barbara Winfrey, the wife of Vernon Winfrey, is still not satisfied, and is running around telling all who will listen that Oprah is giving her father bad advice:
Everyone has family issues, even Oprah Winfrey. Oprah recently purchased the barbershop that her father ran for almost 50 years. Her father’s wife, Barbara Winfrey, blames Oprah for the shop going into foreclosure, saying that they were given bad advice.
Oprah’s father, Vernon Winfrey, refused to sign off on any bank loans to pay off the building’s debt. Oprah bought the property for just under half of a million dollars. Oprah’s spokesperson commented on how Vernon Winfrey has been a fixture in the community and will continue to run the business, because of Oprah’s support.
This compassion is lost on Barbara, who claims that, ”his daughter doesn’t care about the community.” Vernon Winfrey claims that he and his wife have not been on the best of terms, which was made clear last Tuesday when they filed for divorce.
And really, Barbara? His daughter doesn’t care about the community? Do you even know the affect of the name “Oprah” in this world? Apparently not.

This is crazy!It is sad but no matter what you sometimes do for people they always feel that you are not doing enough for them.I am happy that Oprah is helping out her father.What in the h**l is the wife complaining about?What contribution did she make to help save the shop in the 1st place?

No good deed ever goes unpunished. Some people will be bitter no matter what you try to do and help. It’s not her shop and after all these years, they are divorcing. I don’t think it’s the barbershop that caused that. This story is just so convoluted.

It seems as a good thing what Oprah did. Now, let us hope, other than utilities and salaries, if any, all the money he makes goes into his pocket, except for taxes!!! We know he does not have to pay the bank for that mortgage!!!!

Exactly I agree with you Spencer. If I had a celebrity step child I would be supporting him/her as if they were my own all the way. She will wish one day that remained silent. Oprah is his daughter and Oprah can do what ever she wants for dad financially. SMH at black people!

Oprah did the right thing by helping out her father. if Mr. Winfrey has filed for divorce,then what in the world does this Barbara woman have to do with what Oprah does for her father? She’s about to be kicked to the curve and so she’s looking for some publicity. If Oprah had elected to not help her father, this same woman would have complained about that as well.

Family fueds are a monster! I feel the sister didn’t want to think, that they had to lean on Aunt Oprah for a handout.
No telling what Aunt Oprah might do with the building. She might sell it to some of her khazarian buddies, especially since her tell-a-LIE-vision station is going down in quicksand.
I understand her frustration because nobody wants people running around the world saying, ‘if it was not for me’ attitudes. His wife wants to make it on her own without any help from Aunt Oprah.
I know the building was about to foreclose, but a man wants to build his empire for him and his queen.
A lot of people are homeless because they didn’t want to ask family members for help.
I hate to see them divorce after these many years of marriage, but HE HAS TO DO, WHAT HE HAS TO DO!

What a load of c**p Derrick. His son to be ex-wife likely is upset cause he sold it preventing her from staking some claim to it. The last thing she is interested in is making it on her own.
