If you thought Mitt Romney went to the NAACP convention to reach out to black voters, then you may want to think again. Before
Romney went to the NAACP convention, his campaign staff told reporters that the candidate was going to use the opportunity to reach out to black voters.
Romney’s senior adviser Tara Wall said:
Mitt Romney is committed to competing in the black community despite the odds…………If elected by a majority this November, President Romney will be a leader to all. Speaking to members of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization and establishing a dialogue with black voters, communicating his record of achievement and solutions for fixing a broken system of unfulfilled promises is paramount.
But that theory seems to have gone with the wind now that revelations about Romney’s true agenda have been revealed. Romney told a group that the audience at the NAACP didn’t boo him for policy reasons, but because they all wanted “free stuff”:
By the way, I had the privilege of speaking today at the NAACP convention in Houston and I gave them the same speech I am giving you. I don’t give different speeches to different audiences alright. I gave them the same speech. When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare they weren’t happy, I didn’t get the same response. That’s ok, I want people to know what I stand for and if I don’t stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that’s just fine. But I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy-more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free.
So it has now become apparent to many reporters that Romney used his appearance at the NAACP to shore up his position with the right wing, not to engage black voters. Romney’s appearance at the NAACP was just another dog whistle to conservatives to demonstrate that he, like Gingrich and Santorum, believes that blacks are a bunch of welfare kings and queens itching for a handout. The more things change..

It’s sad because everyone speaks on what Obama didn’t do…did anyone actualzie the fact that he could only do what the Congress and Senate allowed him to do? Obama did not put the nation in the mess it’s in, the previous presidents did that and everything he tried was knocked down. We knew when he came in the door, he was only a figurehead; chosen as the lesser of two evils. Although he tried to put up a valiant fight, he has never stood a decent chance. As far as Obama care goes,I see nothing wrong with it. If you all stop complaining and read it; it states those who cannot afford health insurance will still recieve medical care. Unemployed, SSI will have medical care with a premium and low incomed indiviuals will still treated for free. For years you all took care of me while I recieved food stamps, never cash and never used my medical; now it’s my turn to give back.

@Derrick- You need to come back to this side of reality! You raise valid points, but clearly miss the boat on why President Obama has had trouble with Congress — some of it his miscalculation, most of it the manipulation of our democratic system by people who don’t want to see minorities in positions of power. Whether the Presidency, corporate America, or the factory floor – minorities are just that — IN THE MINORITY, and have to work through the walls emplaced by the majority, often due to perception of race and priviledge in this society.

@andrea griffin:
Why feel ‘sad’ over the Truth?
When this yankee was talking about ‘FREE STUFF’ he meant handouts, such as, welfare, food cards, insurance, and ‘FREE SPEECH’!!!
This yankee’s mission is to put Blacks and poor caucasoids back into slavery!
WE MUST NOT WORRY ABOUT THIS CRACKER BECAUSE WE MUST UNITE AND ORGANIZE, REGARDLESS IF O’DRAMA GETS BACK IN OR NOT. HE DON’T GIVE A d**n ABOUT US EITHER!!!

The Dog whistles are loud and clear. Even though there are millions more White People on Welfare and recieve SSI and retirement benefits from Local, State and City governments people like Romney will say to anyone who will listen that this Nation is supposedly too broke to keep those same benefits now that this Country is increasingly becoming more Black and Brown. It was okay to retire when it Joe the Mechanic, white WW2 veteran at 62 when he paid his entire life into Social Security but when Carlos or Queenetta turns 62 you are still supposed to get off your couch and wash my car and clean my laundry even though you paid the same thing? Typical patronizing Racist bullshit. It’s okay for me to do it but not for you. How can this man who enacted Mandates and came up with the same exact plan be against Obamacare. Oh, that’s right Obama is Black/Bi-Racial. We ALLLLL know that subconsciously they all think it’s their duty to put a kneegrow in check. Even when someone Black is doing the same g*****n thing as they are, it’s still wrong. Could just one reporter ask this fool how if he is elected President going to overturn Federal Law without Congress, Supreme Court, or the Senate? You can’t, he knows this. The only people who don’t are the functionally illiterate, backwoods racist who will vote for a man who enacted every policy they hate when he was in elected office and vote against their own interest simply because he is White.

obamacare is hurting the laid off the most. the person not poor enough to qualify for medicaid.
a huge percent of that group is the hard working poor black single mother, who will now have to figure out how to pay her car insurance (ex $150/mo) AND her medical insurance (ex $250/mo) , and feed her children on $200/week in unemployment benefits, IF she is lucky enough to get any.
When she decides to feed her children instead of buy all the insurance, she’ll be fined and eventually jailed, and forever in the court system.

When Romney said “free stuff”, what he was saying is that there is NO “free stuff”. That middle and lower middle income workers will pay for the increased benefits of others. People who want to stay on a life sustaining machine in bed forever.
The insurance company is already making middle and lower income people do something they call
“cost SHARING – the people pay everything they refuse to pay”.
my aunt on social security was told she’d have to pay $150 UP FRONT to get her mri.
Everyone who is poor already has medicaid. Obamacare is doing nothing to change what already exists for the poor.

Derrick you seem so ANGRY why? what i got from your comment you don’t VOTE, so you sit back inflamed in your angrier.Derrick if you don’t get off your behind and make a stand in this life do something to help change what you are feeling. If you don’t vote you don’t have a voice so you will continue to WHINE about BLACK people being NEGROIDS because you got to put the blame somewhere. People like you would rather point a finger at a black person than a white man you might need help this is erratic behavior from you. Get out and VOTE it’s ok vote for Romney if this what you want to do.

@altha:
NO! I AM NOT VOTING FOR O’DRAMA AGAIN! I’m doing my part by tutoring ‘our children’ and talking to them on the streets.
I teach them our True ourstory; not his-story or his-lie. Therefore; shut the h**l up talking out the side of your neck because you don’t know what the h**l I’m doing!!!
WHAT THE h**l ARE YOU DOING BESIDES RUNNING OFF AT THE MOUTH TALKING LOUD AND SAYING NOTHING!
Voting ain’t changed a d**n thang for Black folks. We’re still the FIRST fired and last hired, we are still the FIRST to be incarcerated and thrown in jail (even when innocent), we are still fighting for JUSTICE, LIBERTY, FREEDOM, EQUALITY and RESPECT!
WAKE UP; PRESIDENTS ARE ‘SELECTED’ AND THE PERSON WITH THE MOST MONEY IS GOING TO BE ‘SELECTED’ NOT ELECTED!!!
Your vote only helps gays, caucasoids, asians and mexicans…remember that!
