The risk of HIV infection in the black community has gotten out of control. Nowhere is that more true than among the black, male and gay population. Gay black men are giving one another AIDS at a rate that is simply out of control. Part of this likely comes from the rest of us ostracizing the community and pushing gay black men to the fringes of our society. Once you’re on the fringe, your chances of engaging in self-destructive behavior are much higher than they would have been otherwise.
Additionally, there are quite a few relationships between young black men and older men, with the older men infecting the younger ones. So, we thought that black women had an out of control HIV rate, we are now finding that the are surpassed by black gay men. Heterosexual males are not far behind, so many of us are at risk of catching this disease if we are not careful.
According to a new study by the Black AIDS Institute, black gay men are the group most impacted by H.I.V. in America. The shocking report says that 1 in 4 black gay males is currently infected with H.I.V., and there is a 60% chance that a black gay male will be living with the disease by the time he is 40 years old.
What’s going on here? It’s not higher levels of risk that are to blame, according to the study, but ”their disproportionate risk of HIV can be traced to their poor access to health services, a high prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases, and early patterns of s****l behavior among young gay men.”
The study also says that no one is doing enough to address the H.I.V. crisis among black gay men:

Derrick is right. Whtie gay rights are white gay rights. It is not for black male gay community. When in history have white the white community ever cared about black men gay or straight. When HIV went down in the gay white male community that community went to fight for anothere cause like gay marriage. HIV infection continues to escalate in te black male gay community because, they continue to be sexully irresponsible. Enough black men in their community haven’t died. They haven’t attended to enough funerals.
