Think that Hillary Clinton is beloved around the world? Think again. US foreign policy is some of the most challenged in the world, creating enemies faster than we can find ways to fight them. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was forced to confront some of the bad US PR problem during a recent trip to Egypt.
Egypt was also in the news recently after the kidnapping of Boston Pastor Michel Louis. Louis was returned this week after Clinton and other high level diplomats were able to negotiate his release. We are not sure if the kidnapping was designed to coincide with Secretary Clinton’s visit, but it appears that Egypt, along with Syria and other nations, has become a hotbed of controversial activity.
KultureKritic.com tells more:
Egyptians, at least some of them, don’t seem too fond of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This week, during Clinton’s visit to Egypt for high-level talks, protesters yelled, ”Monica, Monica, Monica” and threw tomatoes and shoes at her car as she drove by. Clinton was in Egypt to help reopen the US Consulate in Alexandria.
The ceremony was pushed inside the building after protesters became too vocal.
“I want to be clear that the United States is not in the business, in Egypt, of choosing winners and losers, even if we could, which, of course, we cannot,” said Clinton.
