The Truth is—Prayer Is Essential to the Life of a Christian
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) This bible verse can cause some people to be disappointed and lose faith. They pray and don’t get what they ask for. As a Christian, I think it is safe to say most of us want nice things cars, homes, etc.. When we pray based on the verse above we expect to receive what we ask. However, we should ask ourselves whether God is our servant or are we God’s servants? Is it about what we will for our lives or is it about what God wills for our lives? Is it about what we want for our lives to be satisfied or what we need for our lives to be truly satisfied? ”This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” (1 John 5:14) The bible teaches us to pray according to God’s will not according to what we want. This is not to say it is wrong to pray for things you want, but the priority is to pray for things God wants for you. God is the creator, he knows better than you or I know what is most beneficial to meet our needs. “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:19)
