Guess What? Florida Lets People with Mental Health Issues Get Gun Licenses

After the killing of Trayvon Martin, a national spotlight has been placed on the state of Florida and its peculiar politics.  Most interesting is a recent finding that to get a gun in Florida, you don’t have to be all that sane.  In fact, some are saying that you can have significant mental health issues and still end up packing.  That’s just what we need these days, a bunch of crazy people carrying around guns.  America has become such a wonderful country.  The360Experiment tells more:

Florida has been putting out some brilliant policies in gun control. Their best idea? — not checking mental health records before granting someone a gun permit. Since the Department of Agriculture and Consumer services is not a law enforcement agency it cannot go through the FBI’s records of 1.6 million people with mental illnesses. Without this information they are still allowed to grant concealed weapons licenses.
