Talk about trying to c*t costs! An egyptian couple is being brought up on charges of smuggling and child endangerment after they tried stowing their child away in their carry-on bag to skip out on completing the paperwork needed to provide their son with a visa. The 5 month old was found during an x-ray baggage screening at the Sharjah International Airport.
The parents faced some obstacles with the United Arab Emirates on Friday, who would not allow them into the country because they did not have a visa for the child. The UAE told the parents that they would need to wait in the airport for two days for the visa office to open so they could get the boy’s visa documents processed. Instead of heeding the request of the United Arab Emirates, the hasty couple decided to ignore the statement by the UAE as if it were bad advice and try to smuggle their infant in a small purse on Saturday.
The police said that the child is in good condition even though his parents were negligent in their decision to stuff him in a bag and send him through an x-ray machine. No further information has been given about sentencing the parents for their unbelievable actions. Abdel Rahman Shama, a police officer told CNN, ”we were very surprised. This is the first time we have seen something like this. Even if you are in a desperate situation, how can you put your child in a bag?” Hopefully the couple is prepared to explain that to their child someday.
