NeNe’s ‘New Normal’ Shut Down in Utah; Actress Speaks Out

This past week, the media was buzzing after KSL-TV, an NBC affiliate in Utah, made an announcement that they had removed “The New Normal” from it’s list of fall shows. “The New Normal” is an upcoming sitcom starring Nene Leakes of ‘House-wives of Atlanta’ fame.

According to KSL-TV, the new sitcom is “inappropriate on several dimensions.”

The sitcom is about a gay couple and a desperate and broke single mother who agrees to be their surrogate. Nene’s character is Rocky, one of the fathers-to-be’s assistant. In the pilot, Nene’s character has a nasty run in with the surrogate’s conservative, homophobic and racist mother. The conservative mother is played by Ellen Barkin.
