As African- Americans, it’s easy for us to think that black people scattered across the diaspora share our outlook. I mean, we’re all black right? So shouldn’t it follow that the views of the black diaspora outside of America should somewhat align with that of African Americans? Don’t Nigerians, Jamaicans, and black Brits support President Obama? Cheer on his symbolic victories? Sadly, that notion couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, many people of African descent view African-Americans, and their first *black* president, as either paid stooges,or people too obtuse to think critically about policies which impact black people globally.
