Dwyane Wade Says LeBron James is Playing Like Michael Jordan

There is little doubt that LeBron James is the king of the hill right now.  He just won his first championship after competing for two titles before.  He was the MVP for the league and for the entire playoffs.  He’s achieved his greatness even sooner than the standard bearer, Michael Jordan.  Even more scary is the fact that James has quite a few more years left to go.

Dwyane Wade, a teammate of LeBron’s, says that not only does James stand up well to the standard, he might now be the standard itself.  He said this to the South Florida Sun Sentinel:

“Just watching LeBron play, I mean he’s just playing at a different gear right now,” Wade said. “That monkey is off his back and now he’s just playing basketball. I think we’ll continue to see a better LeBron James — it’s scary to say, a three-time MVP — than we’ve seen.

“And it’s because all he’s got to do is play basketball now. He doesn’t have to worry about what he hasn’t done, even though it will always be something. But he got the biggest one off this back. He played exceptionally well.”

Wade acknowledges that Jordan won six titles, while LeBron only has one.  Also, King James lost his first two title tries, while Jordan didn’t waste any of his opportunities.  At the same time, James is two years younger than Jordan was when he won his first championship and his numbers are comparable.  Despite all of that, Wade says that James still has some work to do.

“Right now, he has so much more to cover in his career. He’s just getting started at the same time when Michael kind of just got started. We’ll see how it all shakes out. I hope it shakes out the same way. I’ll be a very happy man,” he said.
