Murder Calls Attention to LGBT Violence and Hate Crimes

The recent shooting of Kendall Hampton, a 26-year old s*x worker in Cincinnati, has led to calls for awareness of violence against members of the LGBT community.  The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) is calling for investigations to see if this was a hate crime.

NCAVP has been notified of nine murders of transgender or non-gender conforming people this year so far.   According to a report by the organization, there were 30 documented murders of people in the LGBTQH community, which is the highest number ever documented by the group.
