Lucimarian Roberts, the 88-year old mother of Robin Roberts, has died. Robin Roberts has been in the news a great deal lately, as she has been public in her battle with Bone Marrow Disorder, or MDS. The reporter took a medical leave of absence this week to treat the disease. She also left even sooner than she expected so she could be with her mother in Mississippi.
Roberts is the host of “Good Morning America,” which has been flying high and has taken over the lead in daytime talk from “The Today Show.” A note to the staff of ABC stated that “Robin arrived home with her sister Sally Ann forging through flooded and blocked roads to be with her beloved Mother in time to see her.”
There is no word on how her mother died.
Roberts’ mother was referred to as a “beam of light” by ABC’s Diane Sawyer. She said that she was a firm believer in family and faith and was always helpful to the community. Roberts’ mother was the first African American to head the Board of Education for the state of Mississippi and also served on the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Commission.
Robin Roberts graduated c*m Laude from Southeastern Louisiana University. She followed in the footsteps of her sister, Sally-Ann, who convinced her to get into journalism. Her sister had been a news anchor with a local station, which inspired Robin to do the work that she does today. Sally-Ann is also going to be the donor for her b***d marrow that she needs over the coming weeks.
