The (Ree)lationship Guide: Why Did Gabby’s Mom Pretend that She Did Everything Without a Man?

The (Ree)lationship Guide: Is Gabby Douglas' Mom the 'Typical' Single Mom? No, She's Not

by Ree, “The (Ree)lationship Guide”

As a slew of people around the world joined in celebration of Gabby Douglas’ record-breaking Olympics performances, I watched video after video of her mother, Natalie Hawkins, telling the world about the number of sacrifices she made to help Douglas become the young champion she is today. Initially I thought Hawkins shared the story of so many ‘typical’ African American single-mothers who, in their youth, chose to have a child by a selfish, irresponsible man who fled town the moment he got word of the pregnancy.

Boyce needs to get help for his problems with women. It appears that he has been mortally wounded. The woman actually did make a lot of sacrifices. Even two parent families struggle greatly in America. If the author assumed that there was no father, then that his his fault, and his stereotypical mindset, not the fault of the mother. Get over it.

This is typical cowardly behavior for all too many black women today who hide behind some sort of victim status of being single mothers. Gabby’s mother wants to be viewed as a victim who sacrificed for her child all by herself even when it’s not true. This type of black female “victim” can ignore the reality and claim 100% credit for anything positive with black children and point the finger of blame at black fathers for 100% of the negative. But what excuse does the white media have for ignoring her father who’s serving his country? The white racist media wanted to feed into the tired stereotypical narrative of the strong black woman and weak absentee black father.

Gabby’s mother should be ashame. She comes off as just another stereotypical black woman marginalizing a black father/husband all the while being praised in the white racist media for doing so. I commend this writer for exposing this cowardly liar.

Initially I thought Hawkins shared the story of so many ‘typical’ African American single-mothers who,was never taught be her mothers to choose men by the quality of their spirit and size of their heart. As apposed to the cash in their wallet, car that they drive, lightness of his skin, and length of the d**k. Realize that a man can’t “Get you pregnant” if you learn how to properly use birth control. Bottom line stop making p**s poor decisions about the men you decide to s*x it up with.

Now that is some advice from a man not from some mis-informed sistah girl that avoids self accountability.
