Remember Vince Young, the super stud at The University of Texas? Well, he’s no longer playing for anyone. Young is the latest of superstars to be dropped from his NFL team, as the Buffalo Bills decided that they didn’t need him for much of anything.
Young was the third overall pick back in 2006, selected by the Tennessee Titans. He was released as soon as team owners completed a trade bringing in Tarvaris Jackson to backup starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Young is just 29-years old and likely has some good years left in him.
“Vince did everything he could,” General Manager Buddy Nix said. “He worked hard at it. It just did not work out.”
Last year, when Young was cut by the Tennessee Titans, he substituted for Michael Vick with the Philadelphia Eagles for a while. During that time, he was 1 – 2 as a starter and had four touchdowns. However, he also had nine interceptions, which left the Eagles “Dream Team” looking bad with a lowly 8 – 8 record.
Young took The University of Texas to a Championship in the 2006 Rose Bowl, which was hailed as one of the most highly anticipated championship games ever. His NFL career has been hardly stellar and somewhat volatile. His future is uncertain.
