The US Women’s 4×100 meter relay team was beyond a glowing success. Going into the finals, there was mystery as to whether or not they would be able to defeat their rival, Jamaica. The Jamaicans have emerged as the strongest sprinters in the world, with gold medalist Shelly-Ann Frazier leading the pack. The Jamaicans even swept first, second and third in the 100 meters in the 2008 Olympics.
The US sprinters left no doubt that they are the most dominant quartet in history, running a blazing fast 40.82 seconds, which shattered a 27-year old world record that had been previously considered to be untouchable. The women partied like it was 1999, for good reason. They have a lot to be proud of.
