Listen to the President of Ireland Make a Fool of This Tea Partier

This exchange, from 2010, is of Ireland’s President, Michael D Higgins, taking apart Tea Party loving radio host Michael Graham. What Higgins makes apparent is what most people already know; the current incarnation of the Tea Party is actually antithetical to American values. The idea that hard working Americans should be without health care isn’t American, it’s Ayn Randian.

What is sad is that Higgins knows more about Americanism than do most Tea Party devotees, which mostly demonstrates the power of propaganda in this country. Case and point, in 2002, according to Gallup, around 62 percent of Americans believed that it was the responsibility of government to ensure that Americans had health care coverage.
