The United States Senate recently blocked the Cybersecurity Act of 2012, which guarantees that the bill is not going to pass. The failure to pass the bill came in spite of pleas by President Obama to see the law through. The president claimed that the bill would help the US to fight “the cyber threat to our nation,” which he refers to as “one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face.”
Republicans voted to stop the bill, which Democrats were prepared to support. The bill needed 60 votes, but the final count was 52- 46 against. Oddly enough, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also felt that the bill was not a good one.
