Album Review: Two Chainz- Based on a T.R.U. Story

By Victor “Doc V” Trammell
College Park, Georgia bred rap artist 2 Chainz has a lot to be happy about this week. His highly anticipated full-length debut solo album was released by Def Jam Records on August 14, 2012. Formerly known as “Tity Boi” (member of the rap duo Playaz Circle) he achieved major label success with the 2007 single “Duffle Bag Boy” featuring Lil’ Wayne. He performed the song with his partner-in-rhyme, Dolla Boy at the 2007 BET Awards. After a slew of mixtape releases on his own, he changed his name to Two Chainz in early 2011. The move signaled his desire to reinvent himself and reinvigorate his music career. This change obviously gave him his second wind. His new album titled “Based on a T.R.U. Story” debuted at number one on the charts selling around 147,000 copies in its first week (Billboard.com).
