Civil Rights Group In Togo Stage s*x Strike To Force President Into Resignation

Women of the civil rights group named “Let’s Save Togo” planned to hold a s*x strike that started on Monday in hopes of forcing their current president, Faure Gnassingbe, into resignation. The group’s leader, Isabelle Ameganvi, stated “We have many means to oblige men to understand what women want in Togo.” The strike is in response to recent electoral reforms that will enable Gnassingbe to get re-elected easily. The women are hoping the strike will encourage men to take action against Gnassingbe.

The strike has received an abundance of support and criticism. One supporter, Abla Tamekloe, compared the strike to a spiritual fasting. “It’s a good thing for us women to observe this s*x strike as long as our children are in jail now. I believe that by observing this, we will get them released,” she said.
