In a shocking interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas revealed her father, Timothy Douglas, “was never really there“. Mr. Douglas is a staff sergeant in the Air National Guard who was twice married to Gabby’s mother, Natalie Hawkins, but the two are now perusing a divorce. Mr. Douglas unexpectedly arrived at Gabby’s Olympics trials in San Jose, California, holding an American flag and cheering his daughter on. She hadn’t seen him for two years until that day. He then reappeared (unexpectedly) in London waving an American flag with the words “Go Gabby. Love, Dad” written on it.

Brothers save your children from these evil woman By any means necessary. For much of the last several years, Douglas, who has done three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, has made do with YouTube videos of his daughter’s routines as he served with the 203rd Red Horse civil engineering squadron, either in Virginia Beach or in Kandahar. “I just had to pray to God just to keep him safe and tell the angels to keep my dad safe and come home,” she told NBC. Even if Sgt. Douglas couldn’t see Gabby win the gold in person, the surprise visit to the trials, which marked the first time he’d seen her in nearly two years, resulted in a joyful reunion. Douglas held up an American flag with “Go Gabby Douglas, Love, Dad” on the front and his daughter had no idea he was in the crowd. “I’m like, ‘Who’s calling my name?’ And then I look up,” she told the Des Moines Register. “It was my dad and his friend, and I haven’t seen him in a while,” Gabby said later. “They were holding up the flag. And I almost felt like bawling. I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, Dad!” “I just missed her so much,” Timothy Douglas told the paper. “It’s just so thrilling what’s going on.” As her father no doubt watched from afar and Gabby took her place atop the podium, her own feelings of national pride were stoked. SOMEONE IS LYING AND SOMEONE WAS LIE TO. We saw an example of this on Dr.Phill show when an AA-grand mother lie that the child toll her that she was felt on by her father.Dr.Phill said your are lying because you are crying and there are no tears.[The military take out for the family first.]EVIL is hard to stay with.

@alicica rae so now her mother is a ‘mammy’because her daughter told the truth. How do we know if her mother had anything to do with her decision to tell her story. If he’s a sorry a*s father then it is what it is.Sadly there are a lot of black women shouldering the load of raising their children on their own if these men would step up and be the fathers they should be there wouldn’t be any reason for us as black people to be embarrased about this subject . I do agree though that the media is focusing on the wrong issues about gabby but it is quite possible that maybe gabby not her mother wanted to set the record straight about her father even if we don’t like to hear about another deadbeat black father.

Just a reply to Truth B Not SPoken or just unknown. It seems that this attack on Gabby father was right up your alley. Truth is that there is Bad women and bad men and good men and good women. It seems that you have bitterness within your truth spirit. What about the men who give all that they can, try as much as they can and still the woman poison the mind, the heart and soul of the child against the farther? Look at the whole picture and think about how you are making these beliefs to real. Instead of keeping the negative belief alive, help heal the next man in your life. I hope that you have not already killed him?

Well,
Looks like poor Gabby is going down the road of bad publicity quickly. Just talk about how it feels to win the gold and stop putting family business in the streets. I was happy for her at first, but now I feel sorry for her.
I’m about to say that her mammy is “sorry”!

I agree with the first comment, and think her mother is leading her on this path of potraying the father as a “deadbeat”. Extremely unfair but the truth shall prevail.

It sad to hear this. But he loves his daughter and I hope she allows him to communicate with her.

Yes, yes, yes-what America wants to hear: another dead beat Black father! Honestly, both Gabby and her mother can stop talking now! Clearly, her mother is leading her. Concentrate on the fact that she won! Keep everything else private!
When will Black folks realize and understand that no matter what we do as individuals we will always be lumped under the same umbrella? There are many of us who had fathers who were around-15 of us and none of us won a metal. Her dad supposedly absent- she does. celebrate what you have, d**n!!!!
