Oprah: I Was Called N-Word For Supporting Ellen Coming Out As Lesbian

When Ellen DeGeneres asked Oprah Winfrey  to be involved in her coming-out episode on her 90s comedy series, Oprah had no idea what she was agreeing to.

After the episode in which Ellen  DeGeneres’ character came out as a lesbian aired, Winfrey became the target of the negative reactions to the episode. DeGeneres came out in real life at the same time that the episode about her character, Ellen Morgan, came out. She appeared on the cover of Time Magazine and came out in the same issue.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Winfrey says,
