Pregnant Teen Dies from Leukemia Due to Ban on Abortions

A pregnant teenager died this week, and her mother is blaming abortion laws for killing her child.  The 16-year old girl had leukemia and her chemotherapy had been delayed because of anti-abortion laws in the Dominican Republic.  This led to the girl dying as she waited for her treatment.

Doctors didn’t give the girl treatment because it could end up killing the baby.  The Dominican constitution bans abortion explicitly and the girl didn’t get her treatment until 20 days after she entered the hospital.
