Acclaimed actor Idris Elba has a new project under his belt. He recently served as narrator and executive producer for a new documentary, How Clubbing Changed the World, which aired on BBC’s Channel 4 this summer. I know must of you wouldn’t normally connect music to Mr. Elba but he is in fact a musical artist and an international DJ. I’ve seen a couple of his music videos and the man has talent beyond the movie and television screens.
In How Clubbing Changed the World, Idris along with some musical big wigs, explore the role of the British underground music scene. The film makes the claim that British night clubbing transformed our nation and was exported globally to influence societies across the world. That influence has transformed clubbing from a counter culture movement to a multi-billion dollar business. We also see Will.i.am, Nile Rodgers, and David Guetta lend their insights into the defining moments of clubbing.
